Pools and swimming
Johns Creek has no city pool, and the city’s park rules do not allow swimming in city parks (Recreation and Parks FAQ). Many neighborhoods have their own pools and swim teams; the city’s JCATs team gathers qualified swimmers from those neighborhood teams for the state meet each summer (city’s JCATs page).
The nearest public pools:
- Wills Park Pool, Alpharetta, about five miles west: a leisure pool with zero-depth entry, play stations and a water slide, plus a 10-lane competition pool with two diving boards. In 2025 it opened daily May 24 to Aug. 3, then weekends only through Aug. 31, and took cards only. Daily admission for nonresidents of Alpharetta was $10; children 3 and under were free (2025 pool FAQ).
- West Gwinnett Park Aquatic Center, 4488 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Berkeley Lake: an indoor competition pool, plus an outdoor leisure pool with zero-depth entry, two big water slides and a lazy river that opens for the summer season around Memorial Day (Gwinnett County’s aquatic center page).
Splash pads: we found no public splash pad on the Johns Creek park list as of Oct. 5.
The river
The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area’s Jones Bridge and Medlock Bridge units have launches for canoes, kayaks, rafts and tubes; the National Park Service warns the Medlock Bridge launch can be crowded in summer. Check the river’s estimated E. coli count before you get in: above 235, the park says contact with the river is not recommended (Medlock Bridge launch). Parking needs a $5 daily vehicle pass (NPS fees).
